Our Work
CAJAC’s primary objective is to ensure the dignified preservation and where necessary, rehabilitation of sacred burial grounds. Pursuant to this goal, CAJAC continues to enlist the essential support and involvement of a diverse cadre of individuals, including clergy, elected officials, law enforcement, volunteers of all ages, and other good samaritans. CAJAC is the proud beneficiary of several hundred annual hours of volunteer work, as well as a growing number of charitable contributions.
Volunteerism and a culture of philanthropy enables CAJAC to fulfill its mission by supporting critical projects at an increasing number of Jewish cemeteries. Whether supporting capital repair projects, reclaiming gravestones consumed by overgrowth, or advising Jewish cemeteries on best practices, CAJAC is proud of its ongoing committment to ensuring the long term solvency and preservation of all Jewish cemeteries. To-date, our work has been focused on cemeteries throughout Metropolitan New York including:
- Baron Hirsch Cemetery – Staten Island, NY
- Bayside Cemetery – Ozone Park, NY
- Beacon Hebrew Alliance Cemetery – Beacon, NY
- Central Islip Jewish Cemetery – Central Islip, NY
